  • CAN I PUT TIMBER FLOORING OVER UNDERFLOOR HEATING?

Timber hardwood flooring can't be used on top of this type of heating, as it can cause damage to your flooring. Some engineered wood flooring, however, is suitable to use over the top of underfloor heating.

  • HOW DO I CARE FOR A POLISHED TIMBER FLOOR?

For everyday cleaning, use a dust broom, microfibre broom, vacuum or microfibre mop to collect dust. When doing a wet clean, use a damp microfibre mop, making sure it's not too wet (damp only).

We recommend using specific cleaners to suit the product you have, excessive water and steam mops can be quite harsh and potentially damage your floor.

Depending on the products you have, please contact the store for advice and for the care and maintenance products we have available for purchase.

  • WILL THE LOOK OF MY TIMBER FLOORS CHANGE OVER TIME?

It's not uncommon for flooring to change over time due to sun exposure and fading of the products. To help prevent this we recommend closing blinds when possible or tinting windows in extreme circumstances.

Due to environmental conditions, extreme droughts or extreme moist weather conditions, timber floors are likely to react (movement).

  • HOW MUCH DOES FLOOR SANDING COST?

On new floors it is approximately $30-$40 m2 + GST, depending on the product used and the difficulty of the job. On old floors it is better to have someone quote it on site, as quoting over the phone is usually not accurate and can be misleading.

  • IS THE HARDNESS OF DIFFERENT TIMBER FLOORING THE SAME?

No, it's not. Different types of timber naturally have different degrees of hardness. Even though some timbers are softer than other, all timber used for flooring is considered suitable flooring. If you are looking for a specific hardness, we recommend contact us for your specific needs.

  • HOW MUCH FLOORING DO I NEED FOR MY PROJECT?

To calculate how much flooring material you will need, simply measure the total area needing to be covered, and add 5-7%. The additional amount is to allow for wastage in the installation.

If you need assistance figuring out how much flooring you will need, give one of our friendly team a call.

  • WHAT IS THE BEST TIMBER FINISH?

There are hundreds of brands of products on the market, but the most common are water base urethanes, modified oils and solvent polyurethane.

It is better to discuss the finished look you want to achieve or any sensitivity health requirements with us.
